State of the Net 2012

Trieste (Magazzino 26), June 22-23

450+ attendees, 1.000+ people connected via web streaming, 6.000+ tweets, trending topic on Twitter in Italy. 27 speakers argued around the greatest challenges of the internet: hierarchy vs. network, transparency vs. privacy, telco vs. internet companies. Speeches from internationally acclaimed experts such as Marc CanterEuan Semple, Dave Snowden and Andrew Keen were also part of the program. Gigi Tagliapietra explained cloud computing using the music of Claude Debussy. The old and abandoned port of Trieste – because the conference was held in a newly renovated wharehouse – filled the venue with magic. 65% of the conference was held in english.
