State of the Net 2012

450+ attendees, 1.000+ people connected via web streaming, 6.000+ tweets, trending topic on Twitter in Italy. 27 speakers discussed the greatest challenges of the internet: hierarchy vs. network, transparency vs. privacy, telco vs. internet companies. Speeches from internationally acclaimed experts such as Marc Canter, Euan Semple, Dave Snowden and Andrew Keen were also part of the program. Gigi Tagliapietra explained cloud computing using the music of Claude Debussy. The old and abandoned port of Trieste – since the conference was held in a newly renovated wharehouse – filled the venue with magic. 65% of the conference was held in english.
